SAKUS MISSION COLLEGE CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

Sakus Mission College, Dimapur celebrated International Women’s Day on 8th March under the theme “Balance for Better”. Initiated by Sakus Mission College Women Development Cell (SMCWDC) and held at the college auditorium, the programme was chaired by Mrs. Pranati Das, faculty member and Convenor SMCWDC.

The highlights of the first session were – invocation by Mrs. Arenla Aier (College Chaplain), song presented by Music Students of the college and a special prayer for the women of SMC by Mr. Kiyakhe Sumi, faculty of Computer Department. The speaker on the theme of the event “Balance for Better” was Mr. Simon Kelio, Vice Principal of the college. He highlighted on the importance of building a gender balanced world and the need for collective action and shared responsibilities for driving a gender balanced world in all fields.

In the second session of the programme, Miss. Loreni Sophia, Director of Community Health Initiative (CHI) highlighted on personal hygiene and sanitation to the girl students and demonstrated on how to use the “Sanitary Vending Machine and Incinerator” which will soon be installed in the college. The short programme ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Arenla Aier, Principal SMC.
